The Polish 10th Mechanised brigade was a brigade sized all arms unit formed in 1937 and fought in the southern part of Poland during the 1939 invasion, its surviving elements escaped to Hungary and formed the nucleus of Polish units in both the French and British armies. Uniquely the unit wore WW1German style Wz16 helmets and dressed in greatcoats but in all other respects was armed like any other Polish unit, the unit was also known as the "Black Brigade" as officers and NCO's wore long black leather coats.
