Skoda Ost Tractor

This magnificent vehicle, the Skoda Ost Tractor was a German attempt to produce a towing tractor specifically designed for the Russian front. In practice however it was not very successful as its large wheels set up such heavy vibrations that it could only be driven at slow speeds. It was used for towing road trains but may have been employed as a guntractor when there was a shortage of halftracks late in the war. Ironically, despite its name, this vehicle only served on the Western front with examples seen in Normandy and in the Ardennes.

At present this vehicle is only available in resin but it typifies the Pithead philosophy that unusual models will be made even if they donít sell in great numbers.
