The Ford motor company of Koln produced two models of the 3 ton truck for the Wermacht , the 38 model and the 41 model. This version is the 1941 model that was based on the American pattern truck designated Ford V 3000S . From photographic evidence, most trucks in the Normandy campaign appear to be of this type. Skoda Ost Tractor

This magnificent vehicle, the Skoda Ost Tractor was a German attempt to produce a towing tractor specifically designed for the Russian front. In practice however it was not very successful as its large wheels set up such heavy vibrations that it could only be driven at slow speeds. It was used for towing road trains but may have been employed as a guntractor when there was a shortage of halftracks late in the war. Ironically, despite its name, this vehicle only served on the Western front with examples seen in Normandy and in the Ardennes. At present this vehicle is only available in resin but it typifies the Pithead philosophy that unusual models will be made even if they don’t sell in great numbers.

PzKpfw V - Panther Aus A

Strangely , this version, the Panther Aus A was the second model of the Panther produced after the Ausf D version debuted at Kursk. This improved model recognisable by the side armour extension towards the rear of the vehicle was the most numerous Panther seen in Normandy as the later Ausf D version only went into production two months before D Day. The Pithead version comes cast in a Zimmeritt coating typical of the period.

Stug III Ausf G

The Stug G was an improved version of the Ausf F in that it mounted a shield to give protection to the machine gunner and was fitted with a cupola for the commander. Another recognition feature of the later models was the Saukopf cast gun mantlet. This vehicle served in Sturmgeshutz units until the the end of the war.

Panzer 35t (limited availability)

A number of these excellent Czech light tanks were incorporated into the German order of battle for the invasion of Poland in September 1939 and were also used by the 6 Panzer division for the invasion of France in May 1940 . In 1941 the tanks were still considered good enough to serve in the invasion of the Soviet Union where through attrition they were phased out by early 1942. Krupp Protze tractor Kfz 69 in production from the start of the war the Kfz 69 was used to tow the Pak 36 anti tank gun. The vehicle equipped panzer jager units for the invasion of Poland and was still in use during the early battles in the Soviet Union in 1941- 42. These vehicles were also used by the Hungarian army during WW2.
